Still Into You
Kalyana is in a 'Gleek' class this semester and they had a spring recital this weekend. A few of the girls got to sing solos and Kaly was picked to do one. She chose the song Still Into You and learned the sign language to go along with it. Her friend learned the back up (I'm sad you couldnt' hear her very well, they harmonize so great together). Kaly did wonderfully so here ya go. Enjoy. :)

Edgemont Energy Recital
At the end of the year Kalyana's clogging team had a recital for the parents. They showed us their dance they took to competition and also their second dance they'd been working on.
After the recital my kids showed off on stage. Just for fun.

Edgemont Energy
Kalyana has been clogging after school once a week for 30 minutes since school started and this weekend was her first competition at Thanksgiving Point's The Red Barn with America On Stage. They have been working so hard and it was so great to see them all up on stage shinning! I know this was the first time on stage in front of such a large crowd for many of them and I was so impressed they all actually made it out there and danced!
Kalyana amazes me. We got the music from her teacher and often times she'll turn it on all by herself and practice a home. She loves to even try to teach her siblings the steps and they all take turns wearing her clogging shoes.
All the participants got a medal and Kaly got a 1st place pin for her freestyle** dance (pic 1). Apparently the show often runs ahead of schedule so every now and then while they're getting dancers on stage or the judges are talking they'll invite anyone up on stage to dance to famous songs like Cotton Eye Joe or Boot Scootin Boogie. (pic 2) Me and my fabulous dancer! Makayla, Kalyana and I went at 9am and stayed until 3 preparing for Kaly's two dances and then waiting for them to happen while watching the others. Her dances were at 10:50 and 2pm so we had a bit of time to hang out.

These are the folks that were able to make it out to watch Kaly dance. Even though she was literally only on stage for about 2 minutes it was great to have the support there to cheer her on! (Pics 4 & 5)Afterwards she requested that we celebrate with ice cream so we went to the closest spot called Iceburg. Their 'mini' shakes are that stinkin huge. We had leftovers for a few days. (Pic 6)
Here is her group dance,

**For freestyle that put them into age brackets. There are about 8 other dancers on stage at a time. They come out, all dance for about 10 seconds, then take turns dancing for about 15-20 seconds then all dance together again.

Clogging or Jumping Around
I signed Kalyana up for clogging. It's fun because it's an after school program offered right at her school one day a week. She's in the beginner level with about 8 other kids and they have class for about 30 minutes. At the end of the year they're going to perform a few times and even compete at Lagoon.
She really loves it and Makayla and Tyce usually get in on the action too! This was the third week of class. i'll have to get another video later and post it to show you how the kids are doing!
So we went on a little search to find her clogging shoes. Her teacher said you can get regular clogging shoes (about $40 and up) or lace up shoes (at DI) and put clogs on them ($20). I went to a few stores to find the lace up shoes but couldn't find anything under $21. So after school I took Kaly to the DI and we looked for lace up shoes but again, couldn't find any. However we found actual tap shoes for $4!! This is crazy because about 3 weeks ago we went looking for tennis shoes and sunday shoes for her and the three stores we went to had NO shoes in her size. None! So to find tap shoes in her size at DI was like striking gold. (She wanted to feel like she had the real shoes). So we went and put clogs on those and for $24 total we had actual shoes!
